About The Role :
The Quality Control Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing all quality control and assurance activities in a manufacturing environment producing electronics, power supplies, and transformers for both industrial markets and U.S. military applications. This position manages a team of QC Engineers, inspectors, and technicians, ensuring all products meet internal, customer, and regulatory quality standards. The QC Manager develops and implements inspection systems, ensures compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards, and promotes continuous improvement initiatives across all production operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, train, and develop QC Engineers, inspectors, and technicians.
- Plan, prioritize, and assign inspection and testing tasks to support production schedules.
- Serve as the primary contact for internal and external quality audits, including customer and government representatives.
- Promote a safety- and quality-first culture throughout the plant.
Quality Control Operations
- Establish and enforce inspection standards, sampling plans, and testing procedures for incoming materials, in-process assemblies, and finished goods.
- Manage the documentation and approval of First Article Inspections (FAIs) and Certificates of Conformance (CoCs).
- Oversee calibration of measurement and test equipment (M&TE) to ensure traceability and accuracy.
- Ensure proper handling and disposition of nonconforming materials, including MRB (Material Review Board) activities.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all products comply with MIL-SPEC, IPC, and ISO 9001 requirements.
- Maintain accurate and auditable quality records, test reports, and inspection logs.
- Prepare for and support DCMA or other military customer source inspections.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for quality issues.
- Manage internal and supplier audits; verify corrective action effectiveness.
Continuous Improvement
- Analyze quality performance metrics (defects, returns, rework, scrap) to identify trends and drive improvements.
- Partner with Engineering and Production to enhance product reliability and manufacturability.
- Implement Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve process capability and reduce variation.
- Recommend and drive investments in inspection technology and process automation.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 7 years of progressive experience in quality control or assurance within industrial or electronic manufacturing environments.
- 3 years of management or supervisory experience leading quality teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with DoD, aerospace, or defense manufacturing contracts highly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of MIL-SPEC, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
- Proficient in using inspection and test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, hipot testers, etc.).
- Skilled in statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis (RCA), 8D problem-solving, and FMEA.
- Familiarity with transformer winding, power supply testing, and PCB assembly processes.
- Experience with ERP and Quality Management Systems (QMS) software.
Certifications (Preferred)
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Manager (CQM), or equivalent.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
- IPC Certification (J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, or IPC-7711/7721).
