About the Role
As an Engineering Lab Technician, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the performance and reliability of Espey’s power products. You’ll work hands-on with our test equipment and collaborate cross-functionally to verify that our products meet military-grade standards and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and execute test plans for transformers and power supplies
Operate test equipment, including thermal chambers and vibration tables
Troubleshoot units and identify root causes of test failures
Collect, analyze, and report test data with actionable recommendations
Create and maintain test documentation, including:
Test procedures (ATP/QTP)
Work instructions
Test reports for customer submissions
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and QA to define testing strategies
Analyze and optimize existing test setups and recommend improvements
Specify and recommend new test equipment as needed
Ensure proper testing of high-voltage systems (e.g., transformers, circuit breakers)
Interpret engineering documents, specifications, and proposals to determine testing requirements
Contribute to design and test reviews and provide feedback to ensure engineering feasibility
Promote and maintain a safe working environment
Required Qualifications
Education/experience (one of the following):
High school diploma or equivalent 2 years as a Navy Nuclear Electronics Technician or Electrician’s Mate
Must be 18 years or older
Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain U.S. Government security clearance
Ability to travel up to 10% annually
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, kneeling, crawling, etc.)
Comfortable working in a moderate noise manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent military/technical experience
Background in manufacturing or production for military/industrial products
Experience in hardware/software testing and test automation
Proficiency in interpreting technical documents, procedures, and regulations
Strong analytical and mathematical skills for evaluating test results
Familiarity with performance testing tools and data analysis methods
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed
Detail-oriented with strong commitment to safety and quality
