The Production Test Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our products by leading teams who are executing tests that thoroughly evaluate unit performance according to customer specifications. The role involves leading a production test team of technicians and specialists and closely collaborating with engineering teams to identify testing requirements, develop test plans, prioritize and execute test cases, and analyze results to drive improvements in product quality. Key Responsibilities
Including, but not limited to:
- Lead and manage the daily activities of the production test team to ensure accurate, timely testing of production components and finished products.
- Monitor team performance, provide coaching and constructive feedback, and address issues that arise during the testing process, including leadership of both union and non-union team members.
- Partner closely with engineering to ensure test scripts, equipment, plans, and procedures are developed during the design phase to enable efficient, cost-effective production testing.
- Review production schedules to assess workload and establish testing priorities and staffing plans.
- Investigate the root causes of defective materials and coordinate corrective actions.
- Provide technical guidance on adjusting, calibrating, aligning, and modifying circuitry and components, while documenting the impact on unit performance.
- Prepare technical reports, charts, graphs, and schematics to document system performance, malfunctions, deviations from specifications, and functional limitations.
- Develop and execute product test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate hardware functionality, performance, and reliability.
- Review and approve acceptance and qualification test procedures, work instructions, and related documentation to ensure an efficient and compliant test process.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, designers, drafters, and quality teams to translate requirements into comprehensive test strategies.
- Design, implement, and maintain testing frameworks and tools to improve testing efficiency and consistency.
- Continuously evaluate and improve testing methodologies while staying current on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and testing tools.
- Review and analyze engineering data, customer specifications, proposals, and reports to determine testing requirements and provide technical input as needed.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety by proactively identifying and correcting unsafe conditions and behaviors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent military experience in electrical systems or electrical systems testing
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, product, and system testing
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transformer manufacturing
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering or electronics test laboratories
- At least 2 years of experience leading direct reports
- Ability to work full time
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance; must meet eligibility requirements for access to export-controlled data
- Ability to travel up to 10% annually, based on customer needs
- Ability to perform essential job functions, including standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching, communicating, and lifting up to 10 pounds (with reasonable accommodations as applicable)
- Ability to work in a moderately noisy environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing or designing military-grade transformers
- Specialized knowledge of electrical engineering, electrical systems, or electrical systems testing
- Experience in manufacturing or production environments supporting military or industrial products
- Proven experience with software and hardware testing, including test planning, test case design, and test automation
- Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documentation, business publications, and government regulations
- Excellent written communication skills, including report writing and procedure development
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with managers, customers, and cross-functional teams
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts to analyze test reliability, validity, and performance data
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, and draw sound conclusions
- Ability to interpret complex technical instructions and manage multiple variables
- Experience with performance testing tools and methodologies
- High attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality and safety
- Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as required by production schedules
