Position Overview
The Program Manager will serve as the senior point of leadership and coordination for multi-million-dollar technology integration programs in the public transportation sector. This individual will manage a portfolio of interdependent projects—ensuring alignment across engineering, software, field operations, and customer teams—to deliver successful, high-impact outcomes.
The role requires a dynamic leader with deep experience managing technology deployments in complex external customer environments. Success in this position demands both strategic leadership and hands-on program execution, balancing technical performance, client satisfaction, and financial accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end management of transit technology integration programs, overseeing planning, design, development, implementation, and operational transition.
Serve as the primary client liaison for program activities, maintaining consistent executive-level communication with transit agency stakeholders.
Coordinate across internal functional teams—Engineering, Product Management, Installation, and Field Services—to ensure program alignment and delivery excellence.
Manage program scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring adherence to key milestones and contractual obligations.
Oversee multiple project teams and ensure the timely resolution of issues, risk mitigation, and change management processes.
Direct technical reviews of system design, documentation, and testing with internal teams and clients.
Manage program financials, including forecasting, cost tracking, and performance analysis.
Support business development activities by contributing to proposal preparation, contract negotiations, and identifying opportunities for program expansion.
Lead strategic discussions with senior stakeholders to align on priorities, resource allocation, and risk response strategies.
Drive continuous improvement by analyzing productivity, process efficiency, and team performance.
Serve as an escalation point for both internal and client-facing program matters.
Travel up to 35% for onsite client meetings, field integration oversight, and system reviews.
Qualifications & Experience
10 years of experience managing large-scale technology integration projects, ideally within transit, transportation, or infrastructure technology sectors.
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience as a Program or Project Manager overseeing complex programs valued at $25M .
Proven success managing programs involving software, communications, and control systems integration.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
PMP certification or equivalent preferred.
Strong technical understanding of ITS, CAD/AVL, real-time communications, or related transit system technologies.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, including experience engaging C-suite stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to navigate contracts, manage subcontractors, and balance strategic and tactical responsibilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, JIRA, and ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle).
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
