Environmental Specialties International, Inc. (ESI) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Construction Estimator to join our team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Estimator will be responsible for reviewing project opportunities, analyzing plans and specifications, preparing accurate cost estimates, and supporting the bidding process for geosynthetic and environmental construction projects throughout the United States.
Responsibilities- Review project plans, specifications, bid documents, and scopes of work to determine project requirements.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project expenses.
- Perform quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and project documents.
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Identify project-specific requirements, potential risks, and scope considerations that may impact pricing or execution.
- Prepare and organize bid proposals in accordance with customer and project requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, operations personnel, vendors, and management during the estimating and bidding process.
- Maintain accurate estimating records, bid documentation, pricing information, and project files.
- Track bid opportunities, deadlines, addenda, and proposal requirements.
- Review addenda and revisions to determine their impact on project scope and pricing.
- Assist with project handoff from estimating to operations following award.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers, general contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Support ESI's commitment to safety, quality, and successful project execution.
- Experience in construction estimating, project management, construction operations, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other standard business software.
- Experience with estimating, takeoff, or construction management software is a plus.
- Knowledge of geosynthetics, environmental construction, landfill construction, mining, power generation, or industrial construction is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project and operations teams.
Experience estimating projects involving one or more of the following is beneficial:
- Geomembrane and geosynthetic liner systems
- Landfill construction and closures
- Industrial and environmental containment
- Mining applications
- Power generation facilities
- Geotextiles, geocomposites, drainage systems, and related geosynthetic materials
