Job Summary
We are seeking a Detail-Oriented Journeyman Electrician with a strong background in electrical systems layout and a passion for turning engineering designs into constructible plans. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, capable of working independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced, professional office environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent
- Associate degree in electrical design or equivalent* (*Four years of field experience may substitute for one year of formal education)
- Minimum two years of drafting/design experience
- Strong blueprint, schematic, and engineering drawing interpretation
- Experience in electrical layout and installation planning
- Proficiency in: Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Bluebeam, Email communication
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Deep understanding of electrical constructability
- Team-oriented with a collaborative spirit
- Committed to high-quality and efficient work
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Punctual, dependable, and deadline-driven
- Willingness to learn Autodesk drafting platforms
- Interpret and convert engineering drawings into constructible field layouts.
- Plan and lay out electrical systems, including but not limited to:
- Power Distribution (Busway/Busduct, Cable Tray, Equipment Layout)
- Medium Voltage (Interconnect Utility Duct Banks, Tie-ins to Substations, Vault Layouts, Civil-based Duct Bank Profiles)
- Branch Power (Homeruns, Devices)
- Lighting
- Fiber Optics (Utility Duct Banks, Vault Layouts, Duct Bank Profiles)
- Telecom
- Gear Controls
- EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring Systems)
- BMS (Building Management Systems)
- DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems)
- Fire Alarm
- VESDA
- Follow company and prefabrication standards (once trained)
- Thoroughly read and interpret specifications
- Coordinate layouts with other MEP trades for system compatibility
- Generate: Bill of Materials (BOM), Wire pull sheets, Installation documentation
- Participating in internal design meetings
- Collaborate with: Divisional Detailers, Prefabrication Teams, Field Supervision, BIM Managers and Modelers
- Provide technical input for RFI generation
- Ensure NEC, BICSI, NFPA, and project-specific compliance
- Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.
