JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
- Assist in implementing and improving accounting systems and processes and ensure robust internal controls are in place by implementing SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance measures and conducting regular audits to prevent fraud and errors.
- Prepare and manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including general ledger reconciliation, account analysis, profit and loss statements, trial balance and balance sheet review.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts including inventory, fixed assets, accruals and manage depreciation schedules.
- Maintain and reconcile intercompany accounts, subsidiary allocations and related transactions.
- Knowledgeable in and supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and accuracy of transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or similar platforms.
- Lead cash management activities by monitoring cash flow forecasts, optimizing banking relationships, and managing banking transactions.
- Prepare detailed financial reports and analysis to support executive decision-making, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning efforts.
- Coordinate with external auditors during audits and providing necessary documentation.
- Maintain expertise in technical accounting issues such as double entry bookkeeping, payroll processing, and regulatory compliance.
- Support fiscal year budget creation, analysis, and variance review.
- All other duties as assigned.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAIING:
- Extensive experience in corporate accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP; familiarity with IFRS is advantageous.
- Requires effective communication with colleagues, management, and external partners via phone, in person and computer.
- Must be able to manage high volumes of work and occasional periods of high stress while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent analytical skills with ability to translate data into meaningful insights.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly explain financial concepts to non financial stakeholders.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Collaborative team player with proactive, results-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated ability in financial report writing, account reconciliation, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with a solid understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, and general ledger management.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience; manufacturing or agricultural industry experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills, QuickBooks or ERP system experience preferred.
- Experience with cost accounting, inventory and payroll processes.
- Audit preparation and external reporting experience a plus.
