The IT Business Analyst Intern will support the Information Technology department by helping define, document, and refine business and system requirements for internal technology initiatives. This role is designed for a student pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS), Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field, and emphasizes communication, analysis, and collaboration over technical design or programming.
The intern will work on one or more active initiatives, partnering with business users, IT leadership, and development teams to understand business needs, ask effective questions, document requirements, and help translate those needs into clear, actionable inputs for project delivery. Formal methodologies or templates are intentionally lightweight; success in this role is driven by curiosity, strong communication, and the ability to synthesize information into useful documentation.
The intern will work on-site at Escalade’s Evansville office and will receive guidance primarily from the VP of IT and other IT team members as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities
- Meet with business stakeholders to understand processes, pain points, goals, and desired outcomes
- Conduct interviews and working sessions to gather and clarify business and functional requirements
- Ask thoughtful follow-up questions to uncover assumptions, constraints, and dependencies
- Document current-state and future-state processes, workflows, and requirements
- Help organize and maintain business requirements and supporting documentation
- Collaborate with IT technical resources to review and validate requirements for feasibility and clarity
- Assist in defining project scope, key deliverables, and success criteria
- Prepare clear, concise materials to support handoff to development teams
- Participate in project meetings, requirement reviews, and status discussions
- Continuously refine documentation based on feedback and new information
- Learn and apply practical business analysis techniques in a real-world environment

- Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Process and diagramming tools such as Visio or Figma
- Collaboration and documentation tools (SharePoint, Teams, Confluence, or similar)
- Basic familiarity with application concepts such as APIs, data flows, and system integrations (conceptual, not hands-on development)
- Project tracking or work management tools (as applicable)

- Currently enrolled as an incoming Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS), Management Information Systems (MIS), Business Analytics, or a related discipline
- Strong interest in business analysis, process improvement, and technology-enabled solutions
- Coursework or academic projects involving systems analysis, process mapping, or requirements gathering is a plus
- No programming or technical design experience required

Additional Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship now or in the future
- Ability to work on-site in the Evansville, IN office for the duration of the internship
