Primary Purpose

 

The District Coaches build strong relationships with district leaders in order to drive instructional leadership and HQIM planning and implementation at the district level. The District Coach (DC) is responsible for working closely with the LIFT Leads (LLs) and to coach and/or coordinate Campus Coaches (CCs) at each ESC to build and execute strategic district and campus level plans for Instructional Leadership practices and High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) planning and implementation.

            Education/Certification

  • Bachelor's Degree (required)
  • Master's Degree (required)
  • Texas Teacher Educator’s certification (required)
  • Principal certification (preferred)

  • In-depth knowledge of campus leaders’ roles as instructional leaders, including critical instructional leadership tasks such as observation/feedback cycles, data analysis, and professional development.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data and other authentic instructional artifacts to assess leadership proficiency
  • Ability to self-reflect, apply feedback, and continuously improve

 

 

 

            Experience

  • At least 3 years of successful classroom teaching is required.
  • 3 years of successful campus principal, central office, or equivalent leadership experience preferred
  • Prior experience planning and implementing HQIM and supporting district and campus leaders to implement HQIM preferred.  (Aligned prior experience will be considered for this role)

**This position may be partially or completely funded using grant and/or federal monies and is assigned programs to include activities designed to enhance the effective and coordinated use of funds.

 

  • Deliver initial upfront training, implementation support, and coaching for district leaders, especially principal managers and district curriculum and instruction leaders, on implementing instructional leadership systems and HQIM Planning and Implementation.
  • Build and foster LEA program experience: The District Coach manages and is responsible for the LEA leadership and team experience in the grant program.
  • Support of Campus Coaches: The District Coach in collaboration or independently is responsible for the content and skill development and expertise of the Campus Coach role. They work with them directly and oversee their support and interactions with their campus team as needed.
  • Alignment and successful outcomes: The District Coach supports the collection and analysis of data and metrics aligned to program success.
  • Support and leverage a community of learning: District Coaches actively participate in up-front and ongoing training and support, TEA focus groups, and consistent coaching connections with their LIFT Lead.
  • Any other roles and responsibilities as assigned.

Computers, projection devices, control panels in meeting rooms, printers, productivity software, software specific to the job assignment, network resources, internet resources, and other hardware and software necessary to perform the functions of the job effectively and efficiently.

 

Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors)

 

Mental: Public relations and people skills are always required, work with frequent interruptions, and maintain professional composure and confidentiality under stress.

 

Physical: Occasional prolonged and irregular hours, ability to move tables and chairs and load/unload boxes and materials. Prolonged use of a computer. Frequent region and state-wide travel. Capability to stand, speak, and actively engage with audiences for extended periods during training and presentations.

 

Environmental:  Open cubicles/workstations.

 

Evaluation

Annual performance evaluation will be performed in accordance with the adopted policies of the Education Service Center Region 11. Employment in this position is contingent upon performance, need, and funding.
