Title: Fiscal Support Specialist
Reports To: Treasurer/CFO
Employment Status: Regular/Full-Time
Work Year: 260 Days (12-Month Position)
Job Summary
The Fiscal Support Specialist performs a variety of fiscal, accounting, and clerical tasks to
support the Treasurer's Office in maintaining accurate financial records for the district. This
position ensures proper accounting of receipts, disbursements, and financial transactions in
compliance with Ohio laws, auditor standards, and board policy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate records of all district financial transactions in accordance with
the Uniform School Accounting System (USAS).
Process purchase orders, invoices and payments to vendors, ensuring
appropriate account coding and documentation.
Assist in balancing, reconciling, and maintaining all district funds, including
General Fund, grants and student activity accounts.
Prepare bank reconciliations, monthly financial reports and board meeting
minutes
Oversee and monitor all district purchasing cards and processes
Post receipts, deposits, and journal entries into the district accounting system.
Track expenditures and verify compliance with budgetary limits and purchase
order approvals.
Assist with payroll as directed by the Treasurer.
Maintain organized fiscal files for audits, grant compliance, and record retention
schedules.
Communicate courteously and effectively with vendors, employees,
administrators and auditors.
Support the Treasurer's office with preparation of data for the five-year forecast,
budget reports and audit reviews.
Maintain confidentiality of district financial information at all times.
Perform all the other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and fund accounting.
Proficiency in spreadsheet and financial software (e.g., USAS, Uniform Staff
Payroll System (USPS) or comparable ERP systems, Microsoft Excel).
Accuracy and attention to detail in numerical and data entry tasks.
Ability to organize multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
Strong problem-solving and reconciliation skills.
Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
Knowledge of public-sector purchasing procedures preferred.
Qualifications:
• Bachelors/Associate degree in accounting, finance, or business preferred
• Preferred two (2) years' experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or fiscal
operations (school district or governmental experience preferred).
• Demonstrated proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 and other
financial management software.
• Successful completion of BCI/FBI background checks in accordance with Ohio
Revised Code.
Working Conditions:
• Office environment with frequent interruptions and strict deadlines.
• Requires extended periods of sitting, computer use, and close attention to detail.
• Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 pounds.
• Works collaboratively within a small fiscal team environment under the
