QUALIFICATIONS: 
 

  1. Bachelor's degree in Education
  2. Master's Degree in Educational Administration or related area
  3. Minimum of three (3) years administrative, leadership, or Athletic Director experience preferably at the middle and high school level
  4. Successful experience in Community Sports and Interscholastic Athletic Programs
  5. Successful Ohio BCI and FBI background checks


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
 

  1. An Ohio Principal's license or ability to obtain credentialing
  2. Knowledge and experience with curriculum and academic interventions


REPORTS TO:  Superintendent of Schools


DUTIES:

  1. Be directly responsible for the overall leadership and administration of all Warren City School District interscholastic athletic programs.
  2. Collaborate with the Office of the Treasurer and the Executive Director of Business Operations to submit and maintain an athletic budget which meets the goals of the all athletic programs.
  3. Collaborate with the Office of the Treasurer and the Executive Director of Business Operations for purchase of athletic equipment, supplies and services.
  4. Collaborate with the Office of the Treasurer regarding the collection and accounting of gate receipts. Maintain a plan for season ticket sales for revenue-producing sports with accountability to the Treasurer.
  5. Collaborate with the office of the Associate Superintendent of Student Services, Wellness and Success to create ways to improve athletic programing for all students in the District.
  6. Be responsible for selecting coaches in collaboration with building principal.  Submit recommendations for all coaching supplementals for Board action.
  7. Create and maintain a system of monitoring pre-employment requirements for all coaching candidates, verifying that all coaches have fulfilled all pre-employment requirements prior to submission to the Office of Human Resources for Board approval.
  8. Create and submit annual goals for the athletic department to the Superintendent/CEO. Goals are to consist of facility improvement, conference outcomes, teams, and academic performance of student athletes.
  9. Create annual expectations in Grades 7-12 for all varsity head coaches and evaluate their performance according to goals and expectations, facilitate past season exit interviews.
  10. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and the Warren community to create, develop and foster programs for elementary students in preparation for Middle School athletics.
  11. Establish guidelines for college recruitment of students' athletes for all coaches Grades 9-12.
  12. Schedule all athletic contests for all sports Grades 7-12. Establish contracts for dates, cancellation fees and payment of smu game guarantees. Distribute schedules to all coaches, assignors, building administrators, maintenance, media and opponents.
  13. Schedule transportation for all athletic contests and events; establish trip sheets for the transportation department and the athletic departments.
  14. Schedule officials when needed for all home contests; maintain contracts for verification of dates and payment of officials.
  15. Schedule varsity teams into all OHSAA tournaments and market and promote the Warren City School District to host OHSAA tournaments.
  16. Oversee implementation of OHSAA Policies and Guidelines.
  17. Oversees District drug testing program for students.
  18. Attend all League meetings and all League functions. Serve as League representative of the Warren City School District.
  19. Attend all varsity events home/away or coordinate an administrative representative to attend, as needed.
  20. Coordinate with high school principal administrative coverage for every event.
  21. Receive equipment and service requisitions from coaches; evaluate and process according to Board of Education policies and procedures, remain within the limits of the athletic budget.
  22. Provide staffing for all revenue producing sports including ticket sellers, ticket takers, ushers, clock operators, parking workers, announcers, sideline personnel, press box personnel, security, statisticians, and other services required for operation.
  23. Supervise athletic trainers and coordinate annual physical examinations for student athletes, sport medicine seminars and CPR classes for coaches, etc.  Assist the trainer in purchasing athletic training equipment and supplies, securing ambulance services and assigning them to various sports teams and events.
  24. Process payment for all coaching supplemental contracts.
  25. Submit all game workers to the Board of Education for approvals, track hours worked, and process payment for services rendered.
  26. Oversee all athletic facilities. Collaborate with the Business Office regarding the upgrading and maintenance of each facility, use of facilities by school organizations and outside organizations.
  27. Work with media to promote our athletic program in the areas of game night radio, TV broadcasts and live streaming, press releases on coaches and student athletes, tournament information, ticket information and any other areas of the athletic program that would substantiate press coverage.
  28. Maintain an inventory of all athletic equipment. Provide for repair, cleaning and storage of equipment when not in use.
  29. Collect annual reports from coaches and maintain won/lost records.
  30. Determine the eligibility for student athletes for each grading period, in coordination with the building principal and district expectations.
  31. Provide athletics awards for student athletes and assist the coaches with planning and communication of end of season banquets.
  32. Secure alternative funding outside of the athletic budget including but not limited to scoreboard advertising.
  33. Coordinate the annual Band Night Program with the Band Director and the WGH building principal.
  34. Supervises the faculty manager and Athletic Director secretary to carry out all aspects of the athletic department's responsibilities.
  35. Abide by the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the Warren City School District Board of Education.
  36. Perform any other duties that may be designated by the Superintendent of Schools, or designee.


SALARY SCHEDULE:

Placement on Salary Table C; 52-week contract (Athletic Director Category)

DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT:

260 days -- twelve-month year. Salary and benefits determined by the Board of Education.
