Successful completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Program or Pass certification exam within 90 days of being hired as well as three years of phlebotomy experience
Experience:

Proficient is the use of the Laboratory Information System within the first 90 days of employment.
Preferred:
One year of hospital experience as a phlebotomist
Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required:
Must be eligible for a national certification (i.e. ASCP) in phlebotomy.

Key Responsibilities:
- Blood Collection: Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques to obtain blood samples from patients of all ages. Ensure proper identification of patients and specimens, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Specimen Handling: Label, process, and transport collected specimens to the laboratory for analysis. Adhere to proper specimen handling procedures, maintaining the integrity and traceability of samples throughout the process.
- Patient Care: Interact with patients in a professional and empathetic manner, addressing their concerns, providing clear instructions, and ensuring their comfort during the blood collection process. Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and calibration of phlebotomy equipment, ensuring accurate and reliable results. Report any malfunctions or issues promptly to the appropriate personnel.
- Documentation and Record-keeping: Accurately document patient information, specimen collection details, and other relevant data in electronic health records or other designated systems. Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable privacy regulations.
