Computer Information Systems Faculty

Erie County Community College (EC3), America’s newest community college, is a comprehensive community college located in northwest Pennsylvania currently offering various associate degrees and certificates. EC3 mission is to empower individual learners and cultivate a skilled workforce to strengthen Erie County.

POSITION SUMMARY

As EC3 continues to develop new programs, the College is interested in engaging individuals who wish to bring a unique community college experience to Erie County. Faculty possessing a commitment to entrepreneurial thinking, creativity and a strong foundation to the community college mission can experience success in our classrooms.

The usual faculty load per semester is 15 credit/contact hours for a total of 30 credit/contact hours annually. Full time Faculty at EC3 serve as their discipline lead and as the principal facilitator of the department’s operations. In addition to their teaching assignment, full time Faculty also advise and mentor students, ensure the currency and effectiveness of the curriculum, assist in building the class schedule, identify prospective adjunct faculty, and help ensure adjuncts in the department meet deadlines and other expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Create and revise new and existing courses and department programs
• Employ and promote innovative teaching methods or technologies
• Develop new learning materials or resources
• Mentor colleagues
• Participate in professional development activities
• Participate in program review and assessment activities; utilize outcomes assessment to improve learning/instruction
• Participate in committees, extra and co-curricular activities
• Participate in faculty and self-evaluation processes, including continuous improvement efforts
• Complete training required to perform effectively and remain current with trends in the discipline and higher education
• Attend faculty and college meetings
• Consult with advisory committees and industry partners
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or
• Associate’s degree in Computer Science with three or more years of relevant industry experience, or
• High School diploma with five or more years of relevant industry experience.
• Industry experience in Information Technology and Networking Systems which may include IT hardware and support, operating system interfaces, programming in Python, networking integration and management, network security, database design and application.
• Expert knowledge of network systems development, systems development, and internet/intranet networking.
• Possess or be able to obtain industry standard certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco etc.).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Industry recognized certifications.
• Experience teaching in an education setting is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Blackboard or similar online Learning Management System.
• Experience supporting a diverse population of learners in the educational environment.
