Key Duties & Responsibilities
Teacher Aides are responsible for providing assistance to teachers in a non-teaching capacity to assist students with social/emotional and learning difficulties in all school settings. A Teacher Aide is responsible for modeling appropriate social skills, facilitating social interaction, assisting with classroom work and attending to student physical needs. Under the director of the teacher, aides will perform routine classroom duties, including but not limited to:

Must meet Civil Service Requirements - Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and additional experience and knowledge in particular field where specialized duties are involved.

- Supervising and participating in activities to improve the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children.
- Assisting children with the development of social skills.
- Supporting the classroom teacher.
Minimum Qualifications
Must meet Civil Service Requirements - Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and additional experience and knowledge in particular field where specialized duties are involved.

- Ability to maintain order in classrooms and to enforce school regulations with firmness;
- Familiarity with classroom routine;
- Resourcefulness in conducting activities indirectly related to teaching process;
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
- Dependability, and;
- Neat personal appearance; tact; courtesy; good judgement; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
