Summary

KCCS teachers are expected to work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration in order to create an outstanding learning culture for their classroom. Lead teachers are also expected to follow all the processes laid out in our charter. We expect all teachers to be flexible and support the needs of the school as other duties arise.
The Middle School Grade Teacher will deliver programs, including lesson planning, delivering whole-group instruction of Middle School, student assistance, parent communication, student discipline, and small group instruction.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Hours: 7:45-3:45, regular attendance
- Instruct students in Middle School
- Follow key designs for Middle School as aligned in the KCCS charter requirements
- Curriculum and lesson planning
- Analyze data and implement instruction based on student needs as aligned to Common Core Standards
- Other duties as required
- Attend and participate in school-wide professional development sessions
- Develop positive relationships with parents, students, and KCCS faculty
- Follow the classroom schedule created by the Leadership Team
- Administer assessments following the KCCS Assessment Calendar
- Collect, upload, and analyze all assessment data (upload into PowerSchool and Performance Matters)
- Differentiate to meet the needs of all students
- Implement CSI Action Plan items
- Communicate student data to the leadership team as well as parents and students (data meetings, Parent Teacher Conferences, progress reports, report cards)
- Participate in school events and extracurricular activities
- Follow school-wide behavior management systems
- Adhere to the KCCS Employee and Student/Parent handbook
- Establish effective classroom management techniques
- Implement all items listed on the KCCS Management Checklist
- Establish a safe, clean, organized learning environment free from hazards
- Use technology to enhance lesson plans and instruction
- Participate in Mentor/Coaching program as necessary
- Participate in 8 days of pre-service training at the start of each school year
- Keep evidence and artifacts that support the goals in the KCCS accountability plan
- All teachers will receive annual reviews at the end of each school year
- Master's degree
- NY State Middle School Teaching Certificate
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Proven ability to inspire trust, confidence and motivate students.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students.
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
- Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
- Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
- Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
- Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
