What are the responsibilities and job description for the Campaign Intern position at Eric Conroy for Congress?
About the Campaign
Eric Conroy is the Republican nominee for U.S. Congress in Ohio's 1st Congressional District, one of the most competitive House races in the country. The campaign is based in Cincinnati and is building a robust ground operation to win in November 2026.
Position Overview
The 2026 Campaign Intern program is a paid, performance-based internship for college students and recent graduates interested in politics, public service, communications, or law. Interns are integrated directly into the campaign's day-to-day field operation and gain hands-on experience in voter contact, grassroots organizing, and modern campaign mechanics on a competitive congressional race.
Start dates are flexible. Candidates who can begin immediately are strongly encouraged to apply, though most interns will ramp up in August as the fall semester begins.
This is not a coffee-and-copies internship. Interns are real members of the team and are expected to perform real campaign work in the field.
Responsibilities
- Door-to-door voter canvassing across OH-01
- Voter contact phone calls and phone banking
- Event setup, staffing, and breakdown at campaign events, parades, and community functions
- Yard sign distribution and literature drops
- Data entry into Numinar, the campaign's voter contact platform
- Supporting volunteer recruitment and turnout efforts
- Other field operations and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) duties as assigned
Compensation
Interns earn a performance-based stipend tied to verified voter contact activity. Stipends are paid in a single lump sum after Election Day, contingent on completion of the full program in good standing. Top performers are also eligible for additional recognition, references, and future opportunities with the campaign. Full details will be shared during the interview process.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled undergraduate or recent graduate
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license (non-negotiable; OH-01 spans well beyond the city)
- Ability to commit approximately 10 hours per week through November 3, 2026
- Willingness to work outdoors, on weekends, and in all weather conditions
- Strong work ethic, comfort with cold outreach, and the ability to remain composed under pressure
- Alignment with the campaign's values and the Republican Party
Preferred (Not Required)
- Previous campaign, political, or volunteer experience
- Coursework or major in political science, communications, public policy, history, or pre-law
- Familiarity with voter contact tools or CRM platforms
