What are the responsibilities and job description for the In-House Software Developer – Commerce & Repricing Systems position at ERE Sneakers?
We are seeking a highly capable In-House Commerce Systems Developer to design, build, and maintain proprietary pricing and automation systems across multiple online sales channels. This role is critical to our ability to scale profitably, compete in real time, and operate efficiently on platforms that do not offer native repricing capabilities.
This individual will work closely with leadership, catalogue, pricing, operations, and marketplace teams to create reliable, secure, and scalable systems that control pricing logic, inventory signals, and competitive positioning across our e-commerce ecosystem.
- Design and develop custom repricing engines for online platforms that lack built-in repricing tools
- Build systems that ingest competitor pricing, internal cost data, fees, and margin rules to generate real-time or scheduled price updates
- Create automated workflows to push pricing updates across marketplaces, storefronts, and third-party integrations
- Develop internal dashboards and tools for pricing visibility, overrides, alerts, and performance tracking
- Integrate data from multiple sources (inventory systems, order data, APIs, CSV feeds, web scraping where permitted)
- Ensure pricing logic accounts for fees, shipping, taxes, minimum margin thresholds, and inventory velocity
- Implement safeguards against pricing errors, race-to-the-bottom loops, and platform compliance violations
- Collaborate with operations and catalogue teams to align pricing systems with SKU structures and inventory availability
- Maintain documentation for systems, pricing logic, and automation flows
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and scale systems as volume, SKUs, and platforms grow
- Proactively identify opportunities to automate additional manual workflows beyond pricing
- Strong experience in software development (Python, JavaScript, or similar backend-capable languages)
- Experience working with APIs, data pipelines, and automation scripts
- Ability to design logic-driven systems (rules engines, condition-based pricing models)
- Comfort working with messy or incomplete data from third-party platforms
- Understanding of e-commerce fundamentals: margins, fees, inventory flow, SKU structures
- Experience with databases, cloud infrastructure, or server-based automation
- Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience building tools for marketplaces or multi-channel e-commerce operations
- Familiarity with web scraping, rate limiting, and data normalization
- Experience with inventory management or pricing optimization systems
- Knowledge of automation tools, cron jobs, and background processing
- Prior in-house or startup engineering experience
- Pricing updates happen automatically, accurately, and at scale
- Manual repricing work is reduced or eliminated across unsupported platforms
- Leadership has clear visibility into pricing performance and margin protection
- Systems are stable, well-documented, and adaptable as the business grows
- Pricing becomes a strategic advantage rather than an operational bottleneck
This position directly impacts profitability, competitiveness, and scalability. By building systems we fully control, this role removes dependency on third-party tools and enables smarter, faster pricing decisions across the entire business.
