Position Overview: As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will be responsible to work with a variety of clients including architects, owners, and contractors to create structural designs and construction documents within a team setting. You will coordinate with project partners and assist with executing the structural design.
As a key member of our structural engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering accurate project plans on time and within budget, consistently exceeding client expectations. Your role will involve performing structural analysis of buildings and other structures using current software and designing structural systems with concrete, steel, timber, and other materials. You will collaborate with project partners and clients to solve complex problems with a service-minded approach and coordinate with the internal team on design drawings and report preparation. Additionally, you will provide guidance to less experienced engineers, review the work of other engineers and BIM modelers, and work with construction partners to ensure a smooth construction process. Managing project workload and assisting with staffing needs are also critical aspects of this role, contributing to the overall success of our projects.
ERA provides support and training for engineers in this position through structured programs and professional development opportunities. These include internal continuing education, a formal mentorship program, and avenues to build a professional network through involvement in associations, client engagement, and collaboration on marketing and business development activities.

Key Responsibilities
Enhanced Project Leadership
- Lead client relationship management from a technical and engineering perspective, ensuring expectations and deliverables are fully aligned.
- Provide contract support, including scope review and coordination of change orders.
- Oversee and manage schedules for all structural engineering deliverables, ensuring deadlines are met across multiple projects
- Lead internal and external coordination meetings to align engineering priorities with project objectives.
- Assign and manage engineering team responsibilities, monitoring progress to ensure efficient workload distribution.
- Oversee and enforce quality assurance processes, ensuring designs, drawings, and calculations meet project scope, standards, and internal procedures.
- Guide technical design development for structural systems, project specifications, and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Direct the review and coordination of shop drawings and submittals, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Manage RFIs and provide technical support to address construction issues efficiently.
- Oversee construction quality control, inspection coordination, and evaluation of special inspection reports.
- Plan and conduct site visits, offering technical field support and resolution of field conditions to avoid delays.
- Maintain accurate project documentation—including reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications—for internal and client use.
- Review and approve internal design documents to ensure compliance with scope, budget, and quality requirements.
- Manage scope changes or discrepancies, ensuring transparency and alignment with client expectations.
- Lead postmortem and lessons-learned meetings, applying feedback for continuous process improvement.
- Collaborate with Signing Engineers, Modeler Managers, and Engineering Oversight to align resources strategically with business objectives.
- Support engineering team development through mentorship, performance oversight, and legacy knowledge transfer.
- Balance multiple projects and staff assignments, optimizing workload and ensuring high-quality delivery.

- In – Person Core Office Hours: 9:00am-3:00pm Monday- Thursday
- Friday Flex – 9:00am-12:00pm
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis, at ABET accredited University, Master’s degree preferred
- PE Licensed
- Excellent oral, written communication/presentation skills
- 8-15 years' experience in structural engineering
- Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills
- Organized with the ability to work cross functionally
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, work, outlook, etc.)
- Ability to pay close attention to detail, while working with a team to deliver high quality of work
- Proficient with structural engineering software, such as RAM, RISA3-D, and SAP2000.
- Experienced in steel, concrete, and other material design.
