Position: Medical Assistant
Location: Rutherford, NJ 07070
Duration: 6 Month contract to start, potential for extension and/or conversion to FTE
Rate: $23/Hr
Start Date: ASAP
Description:
Perform assigned clerical duties including but not limited to registration, scheduling, answering phones, chart preparation and patient appointments
Facilitates the provision of care to patients by accurately documenting clinical information
Perform following duties according to Optum, including but not limited to: obtain physical measurements which includes heights, weights, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate and all documented according to department standards. Reports abnormal results to the provider maintaining refrigerator and QC logs.
Organize a patient care area based upon patient needs and priorities as identified by the department.
Assists physicians with procedures.
Clean and sterilizes medical instruments using health system standards
Utilize infection prevention and control procedures according to health system policy
Stock patient exam rooms
Orders supplies as needed and restock supply areas
Maintain patient areas while assuring compliance standards set forth by regulatory agencies
Manage supplies and equipment in a fiscally responsible manner.
Schedule ancillary tests for patients if requested by physician and provide patients with ancillary services information such as telephone number and address.
Recognizes and respects cultural diversity while being sensitive to the individual’s ability to communicate, Documents accurately, balances speed with attention to detail
Maintains open communication with the provider regarding patient care matters.
Qualifications/experience:
2 yrs in the medical field
Certified medical assistant
High school diploma
Fast paced, keeps patient flow going
Type of certification required: certified medical assistant
Shift start & end times: 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm
Work days per week: 5 days per week, 1 rotating Saturday 8am-1pm
Dress code/scrub color: Blue scrubs
Is travel required for this role? If yes, when and how often? yes, about 50% of the time
