Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer – (Northeast NJ)
Contract Role – Supporting Facility Expansion, Process Standardization, and Capacity Improvement
Overview
This engineer will perform the hands-on, detailed execution work required to support manufacturing plant expansion, process documentation, and equipment evaluation. You will gather data, complete standardized documentation, assess equipment capability, support line layout work, and collaborate closely with the project lead for coaching, guidance, and verification.
Must-Have Qualifications
Technical & Engineering Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering field
- 2–5 years' experience in an assembly manufacturing and/or distribution environment
- Strong understanding of process flow mapping, capacity analysis, and cycle-time/data gathering with experience in time studies, throughput calculations and process bottleneck identification.
- Experience in creating or updating work instructions, procedures, facility layouts and equipment capability profiles.
- Knowledge of equipment evaluations (yield, repeatability, maintainability)
- Capability to develop 2D layouts using AutoCAD, DraftSight, or equivalent
Data & Analysis Skills
- Proficient with Excel (pivot tables, simple modeling, throughput modeling)
- Able to complete structured equipment and flow path audits
- Comfortable collecting and organizing:
- Process parameters
- Machine capabilities
- Material flow and inventory data
- Changeover times
- Environmental/safety constraints
Project Execution Skills
- Strong self-starter capable of running daily tasks independently with remote guidance
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-moving environment
- Effective communication skills to work with operators, supervisors, maintenance, and management
- Able to convert raw observations into clear documentation for decision-making
- Strong attention to detail, especially around data integrity and standardization
- High comfort level working on hands-on floor activities (not an office-only role)
