With a mission to support both residents and on-site staff through responsive service and compliance excellence, this organization is expanding its team and investing in operational efficiency across its New York City portfolio.
Position Summary
We are hiring an Assistant Property Manager to provide administrative and resident-facing support at an affordable housing site. This role is essential to day-to-day operations and will serve as a front-line contact for residents, support compliance workflows, process payments, and manage property-level documentation. The Assistant Property Manager reports directly to the Property Manager.
Key ResponsibilitiesResident Services & Communication
Answer phone calls and greet residents and guests at the management office
Assist with resident inquiries and help address unmet service needs
Schedule move-in interviews and special service appointments (e.g., extermination)
Draft household composition letters and communicate with residents regarding updates
Manage Mitchell-Lama waitlist entries and updates; send waitlist letters
Process rent payments and update resident records in Yardi
Create, update, and close work orders for maintenance staff
Organize filing systems and office supplies
Scan documentation (e.g., terminations, HAP share changes) into Yardi resident profiles
Qualifications
1–2 years of experience in property management or administrative support
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Familiarity with affordable housing programs (Mitchell-Lama experience preferred)
Experience using Yardi or other property management systems a plus
High school diploma required; additional coursework or certification in admin or real estate is a plus
Excellent communication skills and professional phone etiquette
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to handle confidential information discreetly
