In this leadership role, you will manage a financial reporting, KPI’s, general ledger accounting and payroll/clerical team. As the Controller, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. Job Summary:

The Controller is charged with overseeing all aspects of financial and accounting activities. This includes billing, budget management, financial analysis, forecasting, and financial reporting as well as providing dynamic and team-oriented leadership and direction to the accounting team. Continue to Develop PowerBI dashboards.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Interviews, hires, and trains accounting staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Assigns jobs and projects to staff to ensure that deadlines are met safely and accurately.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Accounting skills with a high-level of accuracy
  • Building KPIs
  • Analyze operating costs and ensure costs are appropriately classified between inventoried and non-inventoried costs and are recorded timely and accurately
  • Prepare work papers and accruals for month end and post journal entries
  • Collect and analyze data to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor
  • Manage overall general ledger and annual budget process
  • Perform internal control testing and complete reviews
  • Provide suggestions to make controls more robust
  • Analyze inventory prices and ensure prices are accurately reported
  • Work with operations to understand drivers and identify opportunities to improve
  • Assist in creation and implementation of Company policies, procedures and SOP’s.
  • Main high standards, practices and follow all Company SOP’s
  • Minimum 3-5years of progressively responsible experience in cost accounting
  • Perform plant operating cost analysis and reporting to plant leadership, identifying opportunities and trends to help the plants drive improved profitability
  • Research financial record-keeping and reporting requirements and ensures that systems are modified to meet these requirements
  • Establish best practices for financial systems use and ensure that these practices are used throughout the organization
  • Manage financial systems analysts and train departmental staff as needed
  • Ensure that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets
  • Complete tax and regulatory forms
  • Excellent communication skills with attention to detail
  • Analyze potential acquisitions
  • Weekly business financial performance dashboards KPI”s
  • Treasury/cash management reporting and planning
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Supervise and manage accounting staff, including coaching and counseling to drive staff development
  • Ability in developing and implementing accounting/financial policies and procedures
  • Maintain record of company fixed assets using CPA approved depreciation methods
  • Assist in the development of more efficient internal procedures that optimize the use of departmental resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy, security and segregation of duties
  • Prepare all month end entries and reports, including full Balance Sheet account reconciliation, Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, Income Statement, WIP and any other reports required by executive management
  • Maintain all company operating, payroll, savings and investment banking accounts including deposits, disbursements and balancing
  • Monitor daily cash balances in operating, savings and investment bank accounts to cover obligations and maximize interest earnings
  • Skill in selecting, managing, coaching, motivating and developing an accounting team

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics
  • 3 years of progressive accounting/finance skills while managing staff
  • Prior Controller experience preferred
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Strong budgeting, analytical skills and resource planning
  • Exhibits and employs leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Cost accounting highly preferred

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's (Required)
  • CPA, CMA or related accounting credential (Preferred)
  • License and Certifications Required:
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid State Driver’s License
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid state Support Employee License where required
  • Able to pass background check

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 15 lbs.

Salary: $90,000 to $115 DOE

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
