Administrator/Assistant
Epworth United Methodist Church Job Description
Objective: To provide leadership for managing the business affairs of the church and the working relationships with church members, staff and surrounding community to achieve the church's mission objectives.
Accountability: The Pastor, along with the Staff Parrish Committee, provides supervision and direction. Other working relationships include persons within various ministries of the church. The Staff-Parish Relations Committee, in consultation with the
Pastor, will conduct an annual ministry evaluation.
Responsibilities: Abides by all Safe Sanctuaries policies of Epworth United Methodist
Church at all times. Is available to work on Monday thru Thursday from 9:00 AM to 4:00
PM and Friday, 9 AM to 1 PM ( 31-35 hours weekly) and other days when necessary and scheduled ahead of time.
Provides office management responsibilities:
- Prepares and upload weekly bulletins.
- Maintain church calendar and calendar changes
- Maintaining, researching and ordering all office supplies, Sunday School and worship supplies and materials, kitchen and bathroom supplies.
- Maintain the membership list, roster, book, and other related member list with up to date address, phone numbers, email address, etc.
- Handles all incoming mail, phone calls, emails and contacts appropriate board member, member, agencies and groups.
- Provide assistance with postings to Social Media networks as needed and graphic design helps.
- Assists the Pastor with administrator functions as needed.
- Keep Pastor abreast of information pertaining to members!"needs. Keep open communication with Pastor.
- Notify Pastor and Trustee of request of usage of building and inform them when building is being used for external and non-regular meetings.
- Prepares monthly attendance and membership report to the DistrictOffice. Provides general contact duties with staff, church members, volunteers and community.
Provides financial management responsibilities:
- Oversees the administering of the payroll for church employees.
- Maintains all records of donations made to the church.
- Assures all tax reports (941, W-2, G-7, G-1003) are promptly paid and timely filed.
- Maintains all bank records, income received and receipts.
- Preparing and sending out financial statements to members.
- Oversees the purchasing process and maintaining vendor relationships.
- Financial Secretary; attend quarterly meeting, take minutes and provide report
Provides personnel management responsibilities:
- Maintains personnel records.
- Assures the church's compliance with federal and state labor laws. Coordinates vacation schedules.
- Keeps sensitive information confidential.
- Supervises all employees except the Pastor.
Provides property management responsibilities:
- Directs the church's maintenance program by supervising custodian and outside vendors with the Trustees.
- Works with staff, members and outside organizations in coordinating the use of church facilities.
- Coordinates care for the church's inside plants and monitors the turning on and off of the inside and outside lights.
- Liaison and contact person with Realty company, the contractor that oversees rental property.
- Ensure electronic deposits are made.
General Qualifications:
- Be of good moral and Christian character. Stability of physical, mental and emotional health.
- Administrative ability to organize clearly and communicate effectively.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills with software that supports the church's computer system.
- Payroll and Tax experience and competency.
- Attention to detail and follow-through on assignments on deadlines.
- A commitment to good interpersonal relationships, teamwork and support of church ministries and a pleasant personality.
- A commitment to confidentiality regarding all records, both of the church, staff and members.
- Dependable attendance.
- Shall be able to multi-task, problem solver and research.
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Have a minimum of 1 to 2 year"experience/training in administration.
Miscellaneous:
Dependability is essential. Excessive unscheduled absences and tardiness will result in termination of employment.
There will be a two-month probationary period where either party may, with two weeks' notice, terminate employment without cause.
Must be a person of integrity and morals and be willing to listen and apply feedback.
Must be able to work under authority with respect and work as a team member for the betterment of the church and as directed.
Keeps confidences as a sacred trust, except as outlined in our Safe Sanctuaries policy.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
