The organization is seeking a Contract Specialist to play a key role in bridging government contracting requirements with internal business development and program execution teams. This position ensures that contracts are well-defined, compliant, executable, and aligned with both customer expectations and the organization’s technical capabilities.
This role is ideal for a contracting professional with experience in FAR/DFARS environments who can translate complex technical and program requirements into clear, actionable contractual documentation while ensuring regulatory compliance and sound business practices.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Development & Solicitation
- Partner with Program Managers and technical teams to develop clear, structured Statements of Work (SOWs) aligned with program objectives.
- Draft, review, and issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs), ensuring inclusion of all required regulatory and compliance clauses.
- Contribute to proposal development by aligning contractual language with scope, risk, and execution strategy.
Pricing & Performance Oversight
- Support pricing analysis to ensure costs are fair and reasonable in accordance with FAR guidelines.
- Define and track performance metrics, deliverables, and milestones to ensure accountability and successful execution.
Contract Administration
- Manage contract lifecycle activities, including modifications, amendments, and change management.
- Ensure internal stakeholders clearly understand and execute contractual requirements throughout the contract lifecycle.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure full compliance with FAR, DFARS, cybersecurity, and data protection requirements.
- Identify contractual risks and collaborate with stakeholders to implement effective mitigation strategies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a liaison between government contracting, business development, and program execution teams.
- Support capture and pre-award activities with contracting insight.
- Facilitate smooth transition from contract award to execution through clear documentation and alignment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Contract Management, Law, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–7 years of experience in government contracting, contract administration, or acquisition support.
- Strong knowledge of FAR/DFARS and federal acquisition processes.
- Experience drafting SOWs, RFPs, and supporting pricing and contract modifications.
- Proven ability to collaborate across technical, business, and program teams.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and written communication skills.
- Experience supporting defense or federal government programs preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Contracting certifications (e.g., DAWIA, NCMA CPCM/CCM).
- Experience in defense, aerospace, or national security environments.
- Familiarity with cost principles and pricing analysis.
