Episcopal Homes of Minnesota has proudly served seniors for 130 years in St. Paul’s Midway neighborhood. Our vibrant campus offers Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, and Home Care services. Residents enjoy access to amenities including a fitness center, pool, pub, theater, and gourmet dining.

We are currently hiring a Cook to join our outstanding culinary team and support our mission of providing exceptional dining experiences for residents.

Wage: $21.00-$23.50/hr. 
Schedule:  Day Full-Time every other weekend and holiday required. Hours are 8:30am-5:00pm

What You’ll Do:

• Prepare food according to recipes, dietary guidelines, and production sheets.
• Ensure food meets standards for portion control, temperature, and presentation.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work area.
• Utilize leftovers effectively by creating marketable dishes.
• Complete production and tally sheets accurately.
• Report malfunctioning equipment or food shortages promptly.
• Follow all safety and food handling policies.
• Reduce waste through proper portion control and efficient production.
• Collaborate with the culinary team and complete related tasks as assigned.

What We’re Looking For:

• Prior food production experience, preferably in healthcare or senior living.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Basic math skills for portioning and simple calculations.
• Knowledge of food safety and special diets.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Experience in healthcare or senior care settings preferred.
• Physically able to meet job demands, including standing for long periods, lifting up to 35 lbs., and working in hot or cold environments

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• Prior food production experience, preferably in a healthcare facility.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Basic math skills for performing simple calculations.
• Working knowledge of special diets and food safety guidelines.
• Demonstrated ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English required to ensure safe patient care, accurately document in medical records, and effectively communicate with patients, families, and the care team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a senior care or healthcare setting.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to remain standing for most of the workday.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing at least 35 pounds.
• Capability to work in environments with extreme temperature variations (hot kitchens or cold storage areas).
• Ability to perform tasks within time constraints.

Working Conditions:

• Flexible working hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and alternating holidays.
• Exposure to sharp instruments, power-driven equipment, and caustic chemicals.
• Potential exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and pork products.
• Work environments may include extreme temperatures and varying humidity levels.
