The Dean of Students will provide leadership for Student Life programs, including discipline, honor, student support, and community-building initiatives.
Essential functions:
- Head of Student Life – oversee all aspects of student life, including discipline, honor, student support, and freshman orientation.
- Serve as primary point of contact for student issues and concerns, supported by Associate Head of School.
- Supervise Grade Level Deans, Assistant Deans, and Honor & Discipline Council Chairs
- Partner with the Dean of Religion to work with the school counselors, nurses, and chaplains related to student support and the Director of Advisory on student life matters.
- Partner with the Dean of Academics to work with the Grade Level Deans to respond to students’ and parents’ Academic concerns.
- Partner with the Director of Diversity, Community, and Inclusion to work with the Director of Campus Life on student life matters.
- Partner with the Athletic Director to work with the Grade Level Deans to respond to student’ and parents’ Athletic concerns.
- Develop and manage budgets for General Education and Student Life.
- Represent Student Life at parent, admissions, alumni, and other events.
- Contribute to the Student/Parent Handbook and school committees.
- Participate in the Senior Administrative and Internal Operations groups.
- Teach one class per semester or one-year long course.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with faculty, staff, students, and parents.
- Strategic and creative thinking with problem-solving ability.
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to manage change effectively.
Work Environment:
- Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
- Generally works in standard office conditions and climate.
- Often walks throughout the campus; may work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
