Position Purpose

The Therapist provides direct counseling and supports the daily therapeutic programming of Epiphany Soul’s residential treatment program for adolescent girls. This hands-on role combines individual, group, and family therapy with intake assessments, treatment planning, resident activities, care coordination, and staff training.

The Therapist works with the residential team to help residents develop coping skills, strengthen relationships, and apply what they learn in therapy to everyday situations. Services are trauma-informed and aligned with Epiphany Soul’s TBRI®-based approach.

Key Responsibilities

Counseling and Treatment

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy based on residents’ assessed needs and treatment plans.
  • Schedule counseling around school, including regular after-school, evening, and weekend sessions.
  • Develop and update individualized treatment plans with input from residents, families, and the treatment team.
  • Monitor progress and adjust interventions as clinically appropriate.
  • Provide clinical support during scheduled hours when residents become dysregulated, including assessment, de-escalation guidance, and follow-up.
  • Help residents practice coping, communication, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills outside formal sessions.

Intake and Care Coordination

  • Review referral information and provide clinical input regarding residents’ needs and the program’s ability to meet them.
  • Assist with admissions, including intake interviews, clinical assessments, initial goals, and identification of immediate support needs.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and coordinate with case managers, the RN, contracted clinicians, and outside providers.
  • Communicate with families and placing agencies within applicable consent and confidentiality requirements.
  • Assist with discharge planning, clinical summaries, and coordination of continued services.

Daily Resident Programming

  • Plan and lead one structured group or activity each scheduled workday.
  • Incorporate therapeutic skill building, life skills, creative activities, or hands-on learning connected to residents’ needs and goals.
  • Prepare activities appropriate to residents’ ages, abilities, and treatment phases.
  • Coordinate with direct care staff so skills introduced in activities are reinforced throughout the week.

Documentation

  • Complete accurate session notes, assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries within established facility deadlines.
  • Use designated work time to keep documentation current.
  • Maintain an organized schedule of appointments, assessments, and treatment reviews.
  • Promptly communicate significant clinical concerns and changes in resident needs to the appropriate team members.

Staff Training and Support

  • Provide one scheduled staff training or skills-practice session each week.
  • Reinforce trauma-informed care, TBRI®, professional boundaries, de-escalation, and implementation of resident treatment and safety plans.
  • Offer practical coaching to direct care staff and the behavioral safety team.
  • Participate in incident debriefings and recommend approaches that support consistent resident care.
  • Model and reinforce facility policies within the scope of the position.

Schedule and Work Expectations

The Therapist works an approved full-time schedule aligned with resident and program needs. Regular after-school and evening availability and one scheduled weekend day are expected.

During school hours, responsibilities include intake work, assessments, family appointments, documentation, care coordination, activity preparation, and staff training. After-school and weekend hours prioritize direct counseling and resident programming.

The Therapist is expected to maintain a productive work schedule across these responsibilities as census and admissions fluctuate. Any on-call duties and response expectations will be established separately in writing.

Required Qualifications
