The Opportunity
We’re seeking an experienced, Connecticut-licensed septic installer to perform installations and repairs and drive and operate a septic pump truck.
This is a hands-on field position with a mix of installation projects, troubleshooting, repairs, and pumping service calls. You’ll work closely with our operations team, guide helpers when needed, and communicate professionally with customers and inspectors.
An active Connecticut Subsurface Sewage Disposal System Installer license and hands-on septic installation and repair experience are required. Pump truck experience is strongly preferred. Candidates must hold the driving credentials required for the company vehicles they will operate.
What You’ll Do
- Install and replace septic systems. Install tanks, distribution boxes, piping, leaching systems, risers, and related components according to approved plans and manufacturer requirements.
- Troubleshoot and repair. Investigate backups, damaged piping, leaks, and other system problems. Communicate findings and coordinate appropriate repairs with our team.
- Drive and operate the pump truck. Safely travel to customer properties, position the truck, handle hoses, operate pumping equipment, and transport collected waste to authorized disposal facilities.
- Perform pumping service calls. Locate and access tanks, complete pumping, identify visible concerns, and document services performed.
- Read plans and establish grades. Use layout tools and laser levels to verify elevations, slopes, and component placement.
- Operate excavation equipment. Use excavators, skid steers, compactors, and other equipment safely while protecting utilities, structures, and customer property.
- Help lead the crew. Organize daily tasks, direct helpers, coordinate materials, and keep the office informed of progress and changing site conditions.
- Support required inspections. Coordinate with the office and local health department, keep work accessible for inspection, and address identified issues.
- Maintain equipment and safety. Perform vehicle and equipment checks, report maintenance needs, and follow safe excavation, lifting, driving, and waste-handling procedures.
- Finish and document the job. Complete backfilling and agreed site restoration, clean up thoroughly, and record job notes, photos, and disposal documentation.
What You Bring
- A current Connecticut Subsurface Sewage Disposal System Installer license in good standing.
- Demonstrated experience installing, replacing, troubleshooting, and repairing septic systems.
- Ability to read system plans and use grade and elevation tools.
- Experience operating excavation equipment.
- A valid driver’s license, applicable commercial driving credentials, and a driving record suitable for company vehicle use.
- Strong organization and the ability to complete work without constant supervision.
- Professional communication with customers, coworkers, inspectors, and the office.
- Comfort using a smartphone or tablet for scheduling, job notes, and photos.
- Ability to perform the essential duties of outdoor field work, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Strongly preferred: Previous septic pump truck driving and operating experience, a CDL with applicable endorsements, and experience directing a field crew.
