Logistics Dispatcher – Grocery Distribution
Location: On-site
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday | 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM

A fast-paced Grocery Distributor is currently seeking a Logistics Dispatcher to join our team. We’re looking for individuals who are organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing freight and carrier communications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the safe, timely, and professional delivery of shipments from shipper to consignee by assigning contracted carriers as directed by the Logistics Manager.
- Follow all carrier routing and load tendering instructions for each full truckload (FTL) shipment. May occasionally manage less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments as needed.
- Act as the main point of contact for carrier dispatch and drivers. May communicate with customers regarding shipment inquiries, while escalating all major issues to Logistics Management first.
- Process and confirm orders and bills of lading with accurate rate information provided by the Logistics Manager.
- In the absence of the Manager, use best judgment to manage last-minute shipment requests as necessary.
- Scan, file, and log all daily paperwork. Maintain accurate logs and records by day, week, month, and year.
- Email and fax required paperwork to the command center/back office to ensure timely carrier payments and customer invoicing.
- Provide timely updates to customers and internal teams on shipment status.
- Schedule carrier pick-ups and communicate detailed load information to carrier dispatch departments.
- Document daily shipment activities including arrival time, load time, and shipment time.
- Create, update, and close out all entries in the transportation management system.
- Preferred experience with TruckMate, PC Miler, or other Transportation Management Systems.
- Communicate clearly and effectively at all levels, and follow written instructions.
- Assist in troubleshooting issues during shipments and escalate to management as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in Traffic Management.
- 1 year of prior freight brokering experience preferred, ideally with an existing customer base.
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations related to brokering, shipping, and receiving freight.
- Familiarity with transportation documentation, freight forwarding, 3PL operations, and brokerage environments.
- Strong math skills and high attention to detail.
