As we continue to grow, we’re seeking an experienced HR Director to lead our HR strategy, ensure compliance across all operating states, and build scalable people programs that support field operations and corporate teams.Position SummaryThe HR Director will serve as the company’s senior HR leader, responsible for overseeing all aspects of Human Resources with a strong emphasis on multi-state employment law compliance, employee relations, policy development, and operational HR support. This role will work closely with executive leadership, site/area leaders, and management teams to reduce risk, strengthen culture, and ensure consistent, compliant HR practices across our footprint in California, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado (Denver), Texas, Illinois, Kentucky, Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Connecticut.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic HR LeadershipDevelop and execute HR strategies aligned with business goals, growth plans, and operational needs.Partner with executive leadership to drive organizational effectiveness, leadership development, and employee engagement.Build scalable HR processes that support multi-site operations and rapid hiring environments.Multi-State Compliance & Risk ManagementOwn and maintain compliance across all states of operation, including wage and hour, leaves of absence, employee classification, and termination requirements.Oversee employee handbook and policy creation/updates to ensure state-specific and federal compliance.Lead internal audits, corrective action plans, and compliance training for managers (e.g., harassment prevention, wage/hour basics, documentation best practices).Partner with legal counsel and/or external HR compliance resources as needed.Employee Relations & Performance ManagementServe as the escalation point for complex employee relations matters, investigations, and conflict resolution.Coach leaders on documentation, performance improvement, discipline processes, and respectful workplace expectations.Ensure consistent and fair application of policies across locations while balancing state-specific requirements.Talent & Organizational ProgramsOversee recruiting practices, onboarding standards, and retention initiatives to support branch and onsite teams.Develop performance management frameworks, career progression tools, and manager training.Support compensation practices, role leveling, and pay equity considerations in partnership with leadership.HR Operations & InfrastructureOversee HR systems and records management (HRIS/ATS), ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.Manage benefits administration oversight, open enrollment support, and employee communications in coordination with vendors/brokers.Maintain HR metrics and reporting (turnover, headcount, investigations, claims, time-to-fill, etc.) and present insights to leadership.Policies, Training & CultureOwn company-wide HR policies, SOPs, and manager toolkits to ensure consistency across sites.Create and deliver training for leaders and teams (harassment prevention, investigations, documentation, onboarding, etc.).Promote a strong culture of compliance, safety, accountability, and employee engagement.Required Qualifications7 years of progressive HR experience, with 3 years in a leadership role (HR Manager/HRBP Lead/HR Director).Strong working knowledge of multi-state employment laws, compliance, and HR best practices.Proven experience leading employee relations investigations, performance management, and terminations.Experience supporting distributed operations (multiple sites/branches) and fast-paced staffing or operations environments.Strong communication skills with the ability to influence leaders at all levels.High attention to detail, strong judgment, and ability to handle sensitive/confidential matters.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) strongly preferred.Experience in staffing, light industrial, logistics, manufacturing, or onsite workforce models.Experience partnering with legal counsel on HR risk mitigation and policy development.Company DescriptionEpic Personnel Partners, LLC is a privately held woman-owned staffing firm.
