What we are looking for: The Assistant Plant Manager supports the Plant Manager in overseeing daily warehouse operations with a strong focus on safety, equipment functionality, inventory flow, and team performance. This role requires a mechanically inclined leader who can assist with troubleshooting warehouse equipment, support preventative maintenance, and help optimize material handling processes. The position is hands-on and heavily involved in day-to-day operations on the warehouse floor.What you will do: Support the Plant Manager in coordinating and overseeing all warehouse activities including receiving, staging, packaging, and shippingEnsure efficient flow of materials, accurate inventory control, and adherence to production schedules.Monitor warehouse KPIs such as productivity, accuracy, cycle times, and order fill rates.Assist in evaluating and improving warehouse layout, racking, and material flow.Provide expertise in the repair, maintenance, installation, and enhancement of machinery and equipment while ensuring that equipment capacity is maximized.Assist with basic mechanical troubleshooting on equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors, shrink wrappers, and other warehouse machinery.Troubleshoot to diagnose problems, repairs and perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment or coordinate with vendors as needed.Ensure equipment is in a safe and working condition and utilize the Lock-Out Tag-Out program.Champion a strong safety culture throughout the warehouse; enforce OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, equipment safety protocols, and facility cleanliness.Support training on forklift certification, PPE usage, equipment operation, and safe material handling.Assist with scheduling, assigning work, approving time, and monitoring attendance.Participate in hiring decisions, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance feedback.Assist in identifying opportunities to improve warehouse productivity, reduce waste, and lower operating costs.Support Lean, 5S, workplace organization, and process optimization initiatives.Help develop and revise warehouse SOPs, work instructions, and equipment procedures.Maintain required documentation for safety, equipment inspections, and compliance.Fill in where required on production line, operating forklift, or driving delivery truck.Support and comply with all company policies and safety requirements.Provide important key metrics, data points and financial information to support plant financial reporting requirements.Performs other duties as assigned What you need to succeed: 2 years of warehouse, distribution, or plant operations experience required.Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a balance of education and experience.Mechanical aptitude or hands-on experience with equipment troubleshooting required.Proficiency with Microsoft programs required.Familiar with ERP systems.Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
