What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health Associate (Split Shift) position at EP!C?
The Mental Health Associate (MHA) will work within Behavioral Health Services, under the guidance/supervision of a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) or Mental Health Professional (MHP). The MHA will participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team working with individuals who have dual diagnosis, having both Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) and mental health needs.
The MHA will provide community-based and home-based services focused on mental health recovery. Services will be based on identified treatment plan goals and objectives focused on teaching skills which promote wellness and independence. The MHA role will also involve interaction with the person’s support network including family members, guardians, natural supports, medical providers, and colleagues.

Marginal Responsibilities
- As a mandated reporter ensures all allegations, abuse, and neglect are reported as required.

Education/Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must pass a background check.
- Valid driver’s license or State ID.
- One year experience supporting, educating, and advocating for individuals living with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- One year experience providing direct service in a mental health program setting.

- Successful completion of MHA Competency Based Training Activities (CBTA) within first 90 days.

- Recognize warning signs associated with suicide and how to respond.
- Consult team and/or supervisor when concerned about an individual’s mental health.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation according to agency policies and rules/regulations of applicable payer sources.
- Observe and guide individuals’ self-administration of medication, when applicable.
- Attend all required supervisory and team meetings.
- Complete training requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPPA requirements.
- Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with the policies, procedures, and instructions of the supervisor.
