As a full-time Student Dorm Mentor at EOSIS Elevations & Seven Stars in Syracuse, UT, you'll support adolescents facing emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges while gaining valuable experience in mental health, behavioral health, psychology, counseling, social work, youth development, and residential treatment.

As part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, you'll help students build healthy coping skills, emotional regulation, accountability, and positive relationships. You'll provide daily therapeutic support, participate in treatment-focused activities, and work alongside therapists, nurses, educators, and behavioral health professionals to help students achieve meaningful progress.

Pay: $18.00–$20.50/hour shift differential
Shifts Available:
  • 3:00 PM–11:00 PM

These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Supervise and support adolescents within a residential treatment environment.
  • Build positive therapeutic relationships with students through mentorship, coaching, and daily engagement.
  • Help implement individualized treatment plans and therapeutic goals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and contribute observations regarding student progress.
  • Support students with emotional regulation, problem-solving, conflict resolution, accountability, and healthy communication skills.
  • Provide active supervision during school, recreation, community activities, meals, and dorm routines.
  • Facilitate and participate in recreational activities, fitness programs, outdoor adventures, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Utilize verbal de-escalation, conflict resolution, and behavior management techniques to support student success.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
  • Administer medications in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and training requirements.
  • Complete progress notes, shift notes, admissions documentation, incident reports, and treatment logs accurately and timely.
  • Monitor student safety, enforce program expectations, and maintain awareness of student whereabouts at all times.
  • Assist students with educational assignments, personal development goals, and treatment-related activities.
  • Participate in ongoing staff development, training programs, certifications, and team meetings.
  • Support transportation, recreation, educational, and program-specific responsibilities as assigned.
  • Complete additional duties as needed to support program operations and student success.
Required Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and positive relationships with adolescents.
  • Ability to exercise professional judgment and sound decision-making.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team-based treatment environment.
  • Ability to complete all required training, annual in-service requirements, and certification programs.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism during challenging situations and crisis events.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, Behavioral Sciences, Sociology, Education, Criminal Justice, Recreation Therapy, or a related field.
  • Experience working with youth, adolescents, mental health, behavioral health, education, coaching, recreation, residential treatment, childcare, special needs populations, or human services.
  • CPR Certification.
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Experience in youth mentoring, coaching, counseling, teaching, camp leadership, outdoor education, or residential care.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed care, behavior management, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Outdoor recreation experience including hiking, camping, kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, or adventure programming.
Additional requirements include:
  • Ability to actively participate in recreational, therapeutic, educational, and community-based activities alongside students.
  • Ability to hike, kayak, rock climb, mountain bike, and participate in outdoor adventure programming.
  • Ability to respond appropriately during behavioral incidents and student safety concerns.
  • Ability to utilize verbal de-escalation and behavior-management techniques.
  • Ability to safely perform therapeutic interventions when necessary and permitted by training.
  • Ability to maintain awareness of student safety, behaviors, and whereabouts at all times.
  • Ability to communicate effectively during both routine operations and emergency situations.
Physical Requirement:  
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to actively participate in recreational, therapeutic, and experiential activities with students.
  • Ability to hike, bike, camp, kayak, rock climb, ski, or participate in other outdoor activities as required by the program.
  • Ability to transport students and remain actively engaged during community outings.
  • Ability to maintain awareness of student safety, behaviors, and whereabouts at all times.
  • Ability to utilize approved crisis intervention and therapeutic safety procedures when necessary.
  • Ability to respond quickly during student emergencies or safety concerns.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in routine, therapeutic, and crisis situations.
  • Ability to maintain physical stamina necessary for active adolescent behavioral health environments.
