DESCRIPTION
Envoy Theatricals is seeking a General Management Assistant to join its General Management office as a fellow through the New York State Musical and Theatrical Production Tax Credit Program. This is a unique opportunity to receive comprehensive, hands-on training in the business and operations of commercial theatre while working on the Broadway production of Other Desert Cities and other professional theatrical productions managed by Envoy Theatricals.
The fellowship is designed for an individual pursuing a career in theatrical general management and will provide direct mentorship, meaningful responsibility, and exposure to all aspects of producing and managing Broadway productions.
Responsibilities
The fellow will work directly under the supervision of the General Managers and Assistant General Manager and will receive ongoing mentorship from senior members of the production team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with the day-to-day general management of Broadway and commercial theatrical productions.
- Participating in weekly advertising and marketing meetings.
- Assisting with box office management, reporting, and ticketing analysis.
- Supporting production administration, financial tracking, and operational coordination.
- Assisting with preparation and administration of New York State Musical and Theatrical Production Tax Credit applications.
- Assisting with tax credit closeout materials and reporting following each production's closing.
- Providing administrative support across multiple productions while gaining exposure to the business, financial, and operational aspects of commercial theatre.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in commercial theatre management or producing.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Prior theatrical experience is preferred but not required.
Fellowship Requirements
- Twelve (12) month fellowship.
- Minimum of thirty-five (35) hours per week.
- Must reside in New York State for the duration of the fellowship.
- Salary of at least $42,250 annually.
- Fellow may also be assigned as the fellow for Paranormal Activity, also at Envoy Theatricals.
