We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Payable Specialist to join our growing team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, maintaining strong supplier relationships, and supporting the financial integrity of the organization.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of Accounts Payable experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced business environment. Experience within transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, or asset-based trucking operations is a plus.
This position is based at the Corporate office in Wausau, WI.
Key Responsibilities
- Process high-volume vendor invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Review invoices for proper coding, approvals, and supporting documentation.
- Match invoices to purchase orders, contracts, and receiving documents as applicable.
- Manage payment schedules and ensure vendors are paid in accordance with agreed-upon terms.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies promptly.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain positive business relationships.
- Monitor accounts for payable aging and identify opportunities to improve payment processes.
- Assist with month-end closing activities, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
- Support audits by providing requested documentation and account information.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely invoice processing.
- Adhere to company policies, internal controls, and accounting procedures.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 3 years of Accounts Payable experience.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and accounting principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred
- Experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, distribution, or asset-based trucking.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience with ERP or integrated accounting systems.
