Optician / Optical Sales Consultant

About the Role:
We’re looking for a high-performing Optical Sales & Eyewear Consultant to join our growing, independent optometry practice. This is not an entry-level or training position. You’ll bring direct, hands-on optical sales experience and use it from day one. You’ll combine technical precision, proven sales skill, and exceptional customer service to guide patients through eyewear selection and fill their prescription needs with accuracy and style.

Candidates must be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment, stay flexible through organizational change, and keep up with the daily administrative work of the role.

Experience Requirements (Please Read Before Applying):

• Required: At least 1 year of direct optical sales experience in an optical retail, optometry, or ophthalmology setting, including frame and lens sales, measurements, and order processing.
• Career changers: We will consider applicants from outside optical only if they can show both:
• A proven sales track record with measurable results (goals met, revenue numbers, rankings, or awards), and
• Demonstrated technical skill in a precision-based field where accuracy and product knowledge were core to the job.
• Applications without optical sales experience, or without documented sales results and technical ability, will not be considered.

What You’ll Do:

• Drive sales by helping patients choose eyewear that fits both their prescriptions and their personal style
• Explain frame and lens options clearly and confidently, with an emphasis on education and value
• Take measurements on every glasses order to ensure precise vision
• Process, verify, and document eyewear orders accurately
• Perform adjustments, fittings, and minor repairs
• Work with optometrists and team members to give patients a seamless experience
• Maintain visual merchandising and manage inventory
• Send orders to eyewear and lab vendors on time
• Show excellent phone etiquette and communicate clearly and consistently with patients and vendors, setting realistic expectations on eyewear orders
• Use electronic health records to manage patient treatment plans, billing, and appointments
