EnviroScience, Inc. Full time Regular The GIS Analyst at EnviroScience supports environmental projects by collecting, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data. This position is critical in producing high-quality maps, performing geospatial analysis, and providing technical support for field and office staff. The GIS Technician works closely with project teams to manage geospatial data related to natural resources, environmental studies, and conservation efforts. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Data Collection and Processing Gather, organize, and verify field data using GPS and other remote sensing technologies. Process and finalize geospatial data from various sources, including aerial imagery, satellite data, and field surveys. Map Production Create high-quality, detailed maps and spatial visualizations for reports, presentations, and field use. Develop map layers and datasets that support environmental assessments, ecological studies, and habitat analyses. Geospatial Analysis Conduct spatial analysis for environmental projects, including land use studies, habitat suitability modeling, and hydrological analysis. Assist with environmental impact assessments using geospatial data to identify critical areas of concern. Database Management Maintain and update GIS databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for team members. Implement quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of geospatial data. Collaboration and Support Work closely with environmental scientists, engineers, and other team members to understand project requirements and deliver tailored GIS solutions. Provide technical support and training to staff on GIS applications and software. Reporting and Documentation Prepare technical reports summarizing GIS analysis and findings. Document data collection methods, analysis techniques, and workflows for internal reference. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Education: Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Geography, Environmental Science, GIS, or a related field. Experience: Proficiency in GIS software, such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or other mapping tools. Preferred Qualifications: Experience: Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field. 1-2 years of professional experience in a GIS role, ideally within an environmental, conservation, or engineering setting. Experience with spatial analysis tools and/or scripting using ModelBuilder or Python (e.g., ArcPy). Proficiency in Esri’s ArcGIS software suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Web Applications). Experience with database management and cloud-based GIS platforms. Basic understanding of multiple geospatial data formats (e.g., shapefiles, geodatabases, KML) and GPS data collection. Familiarity with cartographic principles and data visualization best practices. Knowledge of environmental regulations and standards (e.g., wetland delineation, endangered species habitat mapping). Desired Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong skills in using GIS software for data collection, management, and analysis. Proficiency in working with GPS devices and integrating field data into GIS platforms. Ability to conduct complex spatial analysis and provide innovative solutions to project challenges. Effective written and verbal communication skills to present geospatial findings to technical and non-technical audiences. Willingness to learn new software, techniques, and workflows as the field of GIS evolves. Work Environment This candidate will need to collaborate effectively with other coworkers and supervisors. Additionally, this candidate needs to be able to complete project work independently, with minimal supervision. This position is primarily an office-based role, meaning employees will be required to work from the Hendersonville, NC office unless prior arrangements have been made with your direct supervisor to work from home. Standard office equipment will be provided to work in the office and at home. Working from home is acceptable for this role as approved by your direct supervisor. Resource Guru must be updated to indicate your work location for the day. Uninterrupted home-based internet is a must in your home to attend and host video calls, along with a minimum bandwidth speed of 20 mbps.
