Health and Safety Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining workplace health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position promotes a culture of safety throughout the organization by identifying hazards, reducing risks, conducting training, and ensuring safe work practices.
- Develop, implement, and maintain company health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and property damage events, determining root causes and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records related to injuries, illnesses, inspections, training, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead safety committees and promote employee engagement in safety initiatives.
- Develop and deliver safety orientation and ongoing training programs for employees and supervisors.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with company standards.
- Coordinate emergency response planning, drills, and evacuation procedures.
- Review contractor and subcontractor safety performance and compliance.
- Analyze safety metrics and prepare reports for management.
- Partner with operations and leadership teams to improve workplace safety performance.
- Stay current on changing regulations and industry best practices.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5 years of progressive health and safety experience.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or related certification.
- Experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, environmental, remediation, or field service operations.
- Knowledge of DOT, EPA, and workers' compensation regulations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel to field locations and job sites as needed.
- Ability to walk, climb, bend, and work in various indoor and outdoor environments.
- Ability to wear required PPE and perform site inspections in active work environments.
Work Environment
- Combination of office and field-based work.
- Frequent exposure to construction, industrial, manufacturing, or environmental remediation sites.
- Travel is required to support multiple locations and projects.
