Environmental Allies is seeking an experienced, hard-working Asphalt Superintendent to lead asphalt paving
operations on TxDOT roadway, highway, and heavy civil construction projects in and around the Houston
area. The Asphalt Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of asphalt paving crews and
subcontractors, ensuring work is performed safely, in accordance with project plans and specifications, and
within the established budget and schedule. This role serves as the primary point of onsite leadership and
works closely with Project Managers, Operations Managers, and the Safety department to ensure successful,
compliant project delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Provide onsite leadership and direct supervision of asphalt paving operations, including milling, base
preparation, and paving crews, for the duration of each project.
● Coordinate daily with Project Managers on site logistics, scheduling, and sequencing of work to keep
projects on track.
● Partner with Foremen to ensure proper crew staffing, equipment, and materials are in place to meet daily
production goals.
● Oversee labor production and manage material usage and expenditures to control project costs.
● Coordinate the work of subcontractors and ensure their work meets project scope, quality, and safety
requirements.
● Track and communicate daily progress to the Operations team, including any forecasted delays, weather
impacts, or site issues.
● Interpret project plans, specifications, and drawings to direct crews and maintain quality control on all
asphalt and related paving work.
● Ensure all work complies with TxDOT specifications and, where applicable, certified payroll and
prevailing wage requirements.
● Communicate equipment needs and maintenance issues to mechanics and the Operations team in a timely
manner to minimize downtime.
● Enforce jobsite safety policies and procedures at all times, including required PPE, traffic control, and
OSHA compliance, and report incidents promptly to the Safety Manager.
● Maintain accurate daily reports, production logs, and other project documentation as required.
● Communicate regularly with the Operations and Executive teams on project status, personnel matters, and
any issues affecting schedule or budget.
Qualifications:Requirements and Qualifications
● Minimum 3 years of experience in asphalt paving construction, including TxDOT roadway and highway
work.
● Prior experience as an Asphalt Superintendent on TxDOT projects required; experience with concrete
paving and underground utilities is a plus.
● Strong working knowledge of TxDOT specifications, certified payroll requirements, and jobsite safety
standards.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels
of the organization, clients, and vendors.
● Proven ability to supervise crews and subcontractors and manage multiple priorities on an active jobsite.
● Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and drawings.
● Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and allocate resources
effectively.
● Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to jobsites throughout the Greater Houston area.
● Valid Texas driver's license and ability to pass a DOT/pre-employment drug screening as required.
● Experience with Procore or similar construction management software preferred.
● Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
● Familiarity with heavy equipment such as pavers, rollers, milling machines, motor graders, excavators,
backhoes, and skid steers.
Work Environment
This position is primarily performed outdoors on active roadway and highway construction sites, and involves
exposure to heat, weather conditions, moving equipment, and traffic. The Asphalt Superintendent must be
able to walk active jobsites, climb in and out of equipment, and stand for extended periods.
