The Millwright, reporting to the Back End Area Manager, is a journeyman-level mechanical specialist responsible for the installation, maintenance, and mechanical integrity of the entire can production line. This role ensures the plant's operating capability by maintaining, fabricating, and testing high-speed machinery—from the cupper to the palletizer—to ensure the sustainability of company equipment.

12 hour rotating shifts 4 days on and 4 days off; Present to fulfill job duties & meet operational demands/support; Schedule may vary depending on plant operational needs thus flexibility is required which may include long days, evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime; Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Essential Job Functions
FULL-LINE MECHANICAL INSTALLATION & UTILITY INTEGRATION
- Machine Connection: Must be able to connect power to machines or hydraulic piping to equipment as required for full-line installation or repair.
- Operational Testing: Responsible for testing units following repair or installation to evaluate and ensure proper mechanical operation.
- Precision Assembly: Read blueprints and technical specifications to precisely install and align machinery using specialized tools like lasers or dial indicators.
- Heavy Equipment: Handle simple and complex heavy industrial equipment including forklifts, scissor lifts, and basket trucks to move and secure large items.
- Multi-Process Welding: Demonstrate the ability to MIG weld, TIG weld, and stick weld stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum.
- Precision Fabrication: Perform basic structural and sheet metal fabrication to support machine repairs, safety guarding, or structural modifications.
- Tool Proficiency: Skilled in the usage of hand and power tools to perform mechanical adjustments and custom fabrication.
- Full-Line Maintenance: Diagnose and repair complex mechanical failures across all production stages to ensure the team's success in meeting client delivery schedules.
- System Knowledge: Apply a working knowledge of all automation standard practices to ensure mechanical repairs integrate with electronic controls.
- Inventory & Parts: Use SAP and other inventory management systems to locate, verify, and report the usage of spare parts and support materials.
- Defect Awareness: Stay alert and report any obvious defects in machinery or incoming material that could hinder production.
- Safety Protocols: Strictly follow proper safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and regulating access to inventory resources.
- Hazard Awareness: Stay aware of possible hazards while operating forklift machinery and working in high-speed areas.
- PPE Adherence: Consistently wear all required safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
- Maintain critical availability (on-call/shift coverage) to respond immediately to high-priority equipment failures in the spray or oven areas that halt production or compromise product safety.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Technical Experience: Minimum of five years' experience as a journeyman-level millwright in a manufacturing operation.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and demonstrate proactive ownership to resolve issues.
- Strong mechanical and pneumatic troubleshooting abilities, especially in timing and actuation systems.
- Willingness and proven ability to be critically available (on-call/after-hours) to respond to urgent plant-level operational issues.
- Direct experience maintaining aluminum can internal spray equipment and/or industrial curing ovens.
- Certification or strong working knowledge of industrial fluid dynamics, process controls, or burner management systems.
- Experience maintaining equipment used in hygienic or food-grade environments.
- Exceptional attention to precision and detail regarding timing and mechanical setup.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills under pressure.
- Ability to work effectively with process control variables like temperature, pressure, and flow rates.
- High commitment to safety and food-grade quality standards.
- Ability to work with employees from many different cultures and backgrounds
- Preference will be given to qualified local candidates
- General knowledge of basic accessing information on the computer or entering data in a computer system
