Introduction
Join our dedicated team as a Senior Design Engineer – Natural Gas, where you will support and lead complex natural gas infrastructure projects within our expanding Public Improvement team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of natural gas distribution design and project oversight, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient execution across the full project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will collaborate closely with project engineers, designers, municipalities, and utility stakeholders to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions for natural gas distribution projects. Your responsibilities include reviewing public improvement plans, preparing engineering designs, performing calculations, designing pipeline routes, and developing construction estimates. You will coordinate with government agencies such as INDOT and local municipalities, provide field support as needed, and supervise select projects from planning through execution. This role also includes conducting peer reviews, mentoring junior engineers, facilitating internal and external communication, and supporting schedules and project coordination efforts. This position offers hybrid work flexibility, with site visits and in‑person meetings based in Indianapolis, IN, within a collaborative and supportive office environment.

- Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, chemical, petroleum engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience supporting natural gas utility projects.
- Ability to travel for occasional project visits and maintain a valid driver’s license without restrictions.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment with site visits and in‑person meetings in Indianapolis, IN.
- Experience in pipeline and/or facility design.
- Experience in transportation engineering or general utility engineering.
- Registration as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE).
