We are seeking a Tax & Staff Accountant to support our Finance team with state tax filings and general accounting tasks. This entry- to mid-level role reports to the Finance Manager and is ideal for someone with basic accounting knowledge who wants to grow in tax compliance and accounting operations. The position will assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual filings, as well as day-to-day accounting responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
State Tax Responsibilities
- Prepare and file monthly and quarterly state sales tax and use tax returns.
- Maintain an organized calendar of tax deadlines and ensure timely submissions.
- Gather and reconcile data needed for filings (sales reports, invoices, exemption certificates).
- Maintain accurate records of all filings and payments.
- Assist with responses to state notices under the supervision of the Finance Manager.
Staff Accountant / General Accounting Duties
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and support monthly close activities.
- Prepare basic journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Support the Finance team with financial reporting, variance analysis, and documentation.
- Assist with audit preparation and respond to internal and external information requests.
Process & Compliance Support
- Help maintain SOPs for tax and accounting processes.
- Identify areas for process improvement and suggest solutions.
- Stay informed on basic changes in state tax rules and accounting standards.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
- 1–3 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or tax compliance.
- Basic knowledge of sales tax, use tax, or general accounting principles.
- Proficient in Excel and comfortable with accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Team-oriented and willing to learn under supervision.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in a multi-entity or multi-state environment is a plus.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
