Position Summary

The Housing and Residential Life Coordinator works to develop an atmosphere conducive to the academic and personal growth and development of residential students. This person accomplishes these goals by efficiently managing the residential facility, by providing a variety of personal assistance and support to residents, and by maintaining a living environment which attends to the needs of the residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the direction and daily operation of residential facilities, including enforcement of housing and safety rules, response to disciplinary incidents, and responsibility for college property assigned to the residence halls.
  • Reside on campus in an assigned residence to support the effective operation and oversight of the residential community.
  • Manage residential housing processes and records, including resident assignments, move-in and check-out procedures, room inspections, resident files, and assessment of room damages following move-out.
  • Promote the health, safety, and security of residential students by conducting regular health and safety checks and coordinating security rounds with campus police.
  • Provide support and guidance to residential students, including assistance with roommate conflicts, student concerns, and other situations affecting the residential experience.
  • Build relationships with residents and foster a positive residential community through regular interaction with students and the planning and coordination of activities and events.
  • Coordinate the operational needs of the residence halls, including maintenance and repair needs, housekeeping services, and supplies necessary for residential facilities.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with campus departments, including campus police, Student Services, Plant Operations, Auxiliary Services, and other areas that support housing and residential life.
  • Supervise, train, and coordinate Resident Assistants and assist with campus and departmental events, including evening activities, as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, required, or directed by the College. The College reserves the right to assign additional tasks and to alter or reassign job duties as necessary to meet business and operational needs.
  • In order to perform these essential functions, the Housing and Residential Life Coordinator must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential function.

Qualifications

  • An associate degree from a regionally accredited institution is required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Must have experience working with high school or college students.
  • Must have experience interacting with the public.
  • Must have good intrapersonal skills, a strong work ethic, reading and math skills, and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

In addition to salary, this position is provided an on-campus residence as a benefit of employment. Availability of the residence is subject to the College’s readiness and occupancy timeline.

Letter(s) must include employment dates and job title and be on official letterhead with an authorized personnel signature.

(5)Separate transcripts from each college attended (photocopies will suffice until employed)
