Building Automation Technician

Requirements:

• High school diploma/GED required; associate degree in Industrial Mechanics, Instrumentation, Electronics, HVAC, or a related technical field preferred.
• 5 years of hands-on experience with HVAC/air handling equipment, building automation, building controls, or related systems.
• 3 years of maintenance/engineering experience in a regulated or industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with BAS platforms and protocols such as Siemens, BACnet, or similar systems.
• Strong understanding of HVAC and facility equipment, including AHUs, chillers, pumps, VAVs, heat exchangers, compressors, and related controls.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, control wiring, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, and automated equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems and use electrical/test equipment such as multimeters, anemometers, and flow hoods.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, mechanical/control drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• HVAC certifications, apprenticeship training, OEM training, or relevant technical certifications preferred.
• Pharmaceutical/GMP experience and knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office preferred.
• Ability to wear required PPE and work in hot/cold industrial environments.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, and occasional weekends/holidays to support 24/7 plant operations.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and support the site’s Building Automation System (BAS), HVAC, air handling, and dust collection systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, wiring, terminations, and basic installation of controls, devices, panels, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control systems, including VFDs, PLCs, sensors, actuators, dampers, valves, and control wiring.
• Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, control drawings, blueprints, and scopes of work.
• Support BAS upgrades, facility projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and equipment integration.
• Coordinate and work with contractors, vendors, OEMs, production teams, and engineering/maintenance personnel.
• Complete work orders, PMs, documentation, change controls, test plans, and equipment records accurately and on time.
• Support equipment validation/qualification, SOPs, training, and compliance activities as required.
• Identify equipment issues, recommend corrective actions, and maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
• Support 24/7 manufacturing operations, including overtime and flexible work schedules as needed.
