Position Overview:

Entech Staffing Solutions is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join a local organization in Flint as Resident Assistants for the seasonal operation of their Warming Center. This is a temporary position designed to provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for women and children experiencing homelessness during the colder months. As an RA, you will work directly with guests, assisting with their needs and ensuring they receive the necessary support while at the warming center.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Commitment:

• Work collaboratively and purposefully as part of the Warming Center team to ensure a respectful, safe, and supportive environment for all guests.

• Abide by and uphold all organizational policies, professional codes of conduct, and guidelines when working with vulnerable populations.

Guest Assistance:

• Welcome guests upon arrival, ensuring they are properly screened through security protocols.

• Assist guests with their personal belongings, maintaining respect, dignity, and care at all times.

• Escort guests to their designated space for the evening and provide a welcoming, safe environment.

• Provide guests with a brief overview of emergency protocols, including fire exits and safety procedures.

• Ensure clear pathways throughout the warming center, including hallways, between family spaces, and stairwells.

• Distribute blankets, pillows, and other necessary items, and assist with storing their belongings if they plan to return the next night.

• Respond to guest inquiries and assist with basic needs (e.g., hygiene items, food, etc.).

Housekeeping and Organization:

• Complete daily housekeeping tasks, including disinfecting surfaces, cleaning light switches, handrails, desks, etc.

• Provide guests with supplies to clean their own areas when needed.

• Respond to spills or messes and ensure they are cleaned promptly.

• After closing each morning, thoroughly clean and sanitize the space, including mopping floors, wiping down chairs, and preparing for the next evening's guests.

• Maintain an organized supply area, ensuring restocking when necessary and documenting low supplies.

Guest Support and Supervision:

• Provide snacks, drinks, and other food items as provided by the organization, following the schedule.

• Observe and ensure a calm, cooperative atmosphere throughout the night.

• Demonstrate strong problem-solving and de-escalation skills, and engage additional support when necessary.

• Collaborate with volunteers to ensure smooth operations and the delivery of necessary services to guests.

Applicant Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.

• Skills: Basic keyboarding and data input skills.

• Personal Qualities: Caring, compassionate, and effective communication skills.

• Other Requirements:

  • Ability to follow clear boundary guidelines with guests.

  • Must pass a criminal background check prior to starting position.
