Role Description:
The Industrial Hygiene Technician will perform on-site evaluations and fieldwork to support environmental safety and regulatory compliance projects, while operating in a hybrid role that combines field time and remote work. Core duties include air quality testing, hazardous materials monitoring, and support for asbestos, lead, and mold management activities. Daily responsibilities also involve maintaining and calibrating field instruments, assisting with abatement oversight, and compiling field reports.
This is a full-time hybrid position based in Baton Rouge, LA.
Desired Qualifications:
- Education Associate's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related technical field; Bachelor's preferred.
- Certifications: OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER preferred; OSHA 10/30 or equivalent; CPI/Lead or Asbestos certifications a plus.
- Technical skills: Proficient with air sampling (NIOSH/MSHA methods), noise dosimetry, direct-reading instruments (PID, multi-gas), pump calibration, and chain-of-custody procedures.
- Sampling & analysis: Experience collecting air, bulk, surface, and wipe samples; familiarity with common lab analytical methods and interpreting results.
- Field operations: Competent in PPE selection and use, decontamination, confined space entry support, and site safety monitoring.
- Reporting: Strong report-writing skills, including documenting field notes, preparing technical reports, and entering data into databases or environmental software.
- Regulatory knowledge: Working familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and state environmental regulations pertinent to industrial hygiene and hazardous materials.
- Communication & teamwork: Clear verbal and written communication; ability to interact with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory personnel.
- Physical & travel requirements: Able to perform field duties (lifting, climbing, extended outdoor work); flexible for hybrid schedule with regular field visits across the region.
- Experience: 1–3 years of hands-on IH or environmental field experience preferred; entry-level candidates with strong technical training will be considered.
