Receiving and Inventory Control
- Receives and inspects all incoming deliveries to ensure quality, accuracy, and proper documentation.
- Verifies quantities received against vendor invoices and purchase orders.
- Reports discrepancies, damaged goods, or quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Stores products in designated areas to maintain organization and product integrity.
- Labels all products with the received date and ensures proper documentation.
- Rotates stock using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method to maintain freshness and reduce waste.
- Ensures proper storage of poultry, seafood, produce, and other perishable items to prevent cross-contamination.
- Monitors storage conditions to ensure food safety standards are maintained.
- Maintains managed order guides to ensure items, pack sizes, and pricing remain accurate.
- Communicates price changes or discontinued items to culinary leadership.
- Assists with placing routine supply orders as directed.
- Maintains all culinary storage areas in a clean, organized, and sanitary condition.
- Cleans and sanitizes dry goods storerooms, walk-in refrigerators, walk-in freezers, liquor storage areas, and catering storage areas.
- Ensures products are stored safely and efficiently.
- Maintains records of stock levels to support accurate purchasing and appropriate inventory levels.
- Conducts regular physical inventory counts using prescribed forms or inventory systems.
- Reports inventory shortages, overstock conditions, or product concerns.
- Assists with routine communication with vendors regarding deliveries, shortages, substitutions, or product concerns.
- Supports maintaining positive vendor relationships through accurate receiving practices and timely communication.
- Supports culinary leadership with other operational tasks as needed.
- Assists with special events, large deliveries, or operational needs.
- Assists with organizing and maintaining all kitchen documentation and ensuring it is properly stored.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1–3 years’ experience in hospitality, food service, warehouse, purchasing, or inventory roles preferred.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to read invoices, order guides, and basic inventory documentation.
- Basic computer skills preferred, including inventory or purchasing systems.
- Food Handler’s Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Ability to communicate effectively, including reading, writing, and speaking as necessary to perform essential job duties, communicate with residents and team members, and respond to emergency situations.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move through kitchen and dining areas frequently.
- Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Exposure to kitchen heat, cleaning agents, and food allergens.
- Ability to work in refrigerated environments such as walk-in coolers and freezers.
