What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Power and Controls Electrician (13.8kV) position at Engtal?
Your day, electrified
Morning starts with a scan of the CMMS, prioritizing scheduled electrical PMs and reviewing last night’s work orders. You’ll move from thermal imaging rounds that catch issues before they escalate, to a call on the floor where a line has tripped. You trace a voltage imbalance, verify motor controls, and bring the equipment back online. After lunch, you help commission a new machine, tuning PLC/HMI logic and VFD parameters for smooth ramp-up. You finish by logging precise PM records and calibrating a set of industrial scales and flow meters for the next production run.
When production calls- Troubleshoot electrical failures impacting production equipment.
- Diagnose issues across 480 V–13.8 kV power distribution.
- Repair and service motors, motor controls, starters, contactors, relays, and transformers.
- Identify and resolve VFD faults and performance issues.
- Track down phase loss, voltage imbalance, ground faults, short circuits, and relay failures.
- Support furnace-related systems: burner controls, ignition circuits, and temperature controls.
- Service servo motors, encoders, and positioning systems used in automation.
- Perform scheduled electrical PMs facility-wide to maximize uptime.
- Inspect electrical panels, switchgear, MCCs, relays, and contactors for wear and safety.
- Apply predictive practices with thermal imaging to spot hot spots and avert failures.
- Calibrate instrumentation: load cells, industrial scales, and flow meters.
- Maintain complete work orders and preventive maintenance records in the CMMS.
- Install new electrical equipment and production machinery safely and to spec.
- Assist with commissioning new manufacturing equipment for a clean handoff to production.
- Modernize legacy assets with updated PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and control panels.
- Configure and fine-tune automation systems for optimal throughput and stability.
