Estimator

We are partnering with a long-established, Boston-based Construction Management firm to hire an experienced Estimator for its preconstruction team.

With more than a century of experience in the Greater Boston market, the company is known for technically complex projects across healthcare, higher education, life sciences, research, and institutional construction. The firm offers the project sophistication of a major construction manager while maintaining a collaborative, team-oriented culture with strong employee tenure.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction document estimates.
• Independently produce complete project budgets and estimates.
• Review drawings and specifications for scope, cost, constructability, and risk.
• Track budgets throughout design and evaluate cost impacts of design changes.
• Provide value engineering and cost-saving recommendations.
• Prepare bid packages, solicit subcontractor pricing, level proposals, and support procurement.
• Work closely with project management, owners, design teams, consultants, and subcontractors throughout preconstruction.
• Provide input on logistics, phasing, scheduling, and constructability.

Ideal Background

• Approximately 8–15 years of construction estimating or preconstruction experience, ideally around the 10-year level.
• Experience with a General Contractor or Construction Manager in Greater Boston/New England.
• Background in healthcare, higher education, life science, laboratory, institutional, or complex commercial construction.
• Ability to independently build and manage complete estimates.
• Experience with negotiated work, subcontractor bidding, budgeting, cost analysis, and value engineering.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, subcontractor scopes, and the Greater Boston construction market.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $145,000 – $200,000, depending on experience.
