Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Controls Engineer to join their product development team. In this role, you’ll focus on designing, programming, testing, and implementing control systems for advanced industrial equipment. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, contributing to projects from concept through production in a small, collaborative environment where your work will have a visible impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and document control systems for new and existing machinery.
- Plan and execute PLC and HMI programming, including testing and commissioning at the production facility.
- Conduct proof-of-concept and performance testing; analyze results and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve design and process challenges.
- Develop and maintain control system documentation, procedures, and best practices.
- Support installation, troubleshooting, and customer training as needed.
- Stay current with relevant safety standards and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5 years in industrial controls, automation, or a related field.
- Strong PLC programming skills (Allen Bradley or Siemens preferred) and HMI development experience.
- Hands-on experience with motion control systems, VFDs, and servo drives.
- Knowledge of sensors, encoders, and other instrumentation.
- Understanding of closed-loop control, PID principles, and industrial communication protocols.
- Ability to read schematics and pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams.
- Proficiency with CAD for control system drawings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to Travel (25%)
